Rifle rapped out 10 hits and seven runs, topping host Montezuma-Cortez 7-4 in Thursday’s Class 4A Western Slope League softball opener.Alissa Skinner picked up the win in the circle for the Bears, who improved to 8-4 overall. Chelsea Webb, Tamara Kaczmarek and Tori Fazzi all added doubles.Also on Thursday, Rifle’s junior varsity team swept a doubleheader from Cortez by scores of 22-7 and 22-5.

Moffat County rolled to a 25-18, 25-15, 25-11 volleyball win over visiting Rifle on Thursday.The Bears are scheduled to travel to Steamboat Springs today for a 1 p.m. match.
