Demons win 3-0 over Bulldogs in 4A WSL tilt
Another home game, another win at Stubler Memorial Field for the Glenwood Springs Demons girls soccer team. That makes it 14 straight wins at home dating back to April 13, 2017.
Against the Bulldogs, the Demons struck early, scoring just under 14 minutes into the 4A Western Slope League battle.
Off of a corner kick by junior Summer McSwain, senior Sarah Helm headed the ball into the air to senior Sierra McKinney, who redirected the ball into the net for the game’s opening score.
A little under four minutes later, the Demons made it 2-0 as sophomore Tatum Lilly found Helm on the run on the far right. Helm worked to the outside corner of the goal and unleashed a screamer of a shot inside the far post for the second goal of the game. Helm them capped off the 3-0 win with a tremendous strike on a free kick at the 23:11 mark of the first half. Helm set up just outside of the attacking box and fired a strike under the crossbar in the upper left corner of the net for the final goal of the game.
The win sees Glenwood improve to 7-3 (6-2 in 4A WSL) on the season. The Demons return to action Thursday night at home against the visiting Eagle Valley Devils at 6 p.m.
