Ram girls take out Devils; boys team drops pair of heartbreakers

CARBONDALE – Ashley Jensen poured in 17 points, while teammates Tarn Udall and Brie Bath notched 13 and 10, respectively, to lead the Roaring Fork Rams girls basketball team to a 57-48 win over Eagle Valley Friday night.

The victory clinches a top-three seed and an opening-round home game in the Class 3A Western Slope League district tournament for Roaring Fork (10-2, 14-3).

The Rams led 19-4 after the first quarter and expanded on that lead in the second quarter. Roaring Fork took a 34-12 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

It wasn’t until the second half the Eagle Valley (4-9, 7-11) made a run, and by then it was too late. The Devils outscored Roaring Fork 14-10 in the third quarter and 22-13 in the fourth.

Three Eagle Valley players reached double figures, led by 11 points from Trista Sandoval. Amanda Padilla and Kenzie Shreeve each scored 10 points.

The victory keeps Roaring Fork even with Cedaredge in second place in the 3A WSL. The Rams faced Cedaredge Saturday night on the road. Results were not available at press time.
