Rams, Cardinals earn first-team nods on all-Class 3A Western Slope League team

Three members of the Roaring Fork High School baseball team, along with a pair of Grand Valley High athletes, were named to the first team of the Class 3A Western Slope League all-league baseball team earlier this week.

Roaring Fork senior Johnny Nieslanik was one of seven infielders given first-team recognition. Also named to the first team as an infielder was Grand Valley senior Jake White.

Roaring Fork junior catcher Tanner Nieslanik was a unanimous first-team selection at his position, and senior Oscar Olivas was named to the first team as a utility player. Also named to the first team was Grand Valley senior Trent Reidle, who was one of six outfielders recognized.

Basalt first-teamers included infielders Nick Calabro and Tucker Jenkins, both juniors, and junior outfielder Tim Johnson. Pitcher Spencer Glasener was named to the first team as a pitcher.

Hunter Hasenberg, a Coal Ridge High senior, was given an honorable mention as an infielder. Also named honorable mentions were Basalt’s Carlos Leal, Cody Hoffman and Mark Barto.

Basalt coach Rick Ryan was named the league’s Coach of the Year following the Longhorns’ first league title in program history. Moffat County senior Bubba Ivers, who was a first-team award winner as an outfielder, was named the league’s Player of the Year.
