Rams finish strong at league meet
ASPEN – The Roaring Fork boys track team had one of its best performances of the season at the 3A Western Slope League meet here on Saturday.
Four Ram athletes notched personal best marks to lead Roaring Fork to a third-place team finish.
James Leonard recorded the only individual first-place mark in Saturday’s meet for the Rams. He won the triple jump with a best leap of 40 feet, 2 1/2 inches. Leonard also finished second in the 200-meter run in a personal best of 24.57 seconds, along with placing second in high jump and third in long jump.
Sophomore Alex Tiernan took second place in the 3,200 meters, finishing the race in 11 minutes, 40.23 seconds, and recorded personal bests in the triple jump and 400-meter dash.
In the sprints, Cody Jeffryes marked a third-place time of 12.29.
In the girls meet, junior Tarn Udall tallied three personal bests, including a 15-1/2 second-place mark in the long jump.
Erin Young also concluded Saturday’s meet with three personal bests.
The Roring Fork girls concluded the meet in sixth place.
Friday and Saturday, Roaring Fork will compete in the Class 3A Western regional track meet at Stocker Stadium in Grand Junction.
