Rams rally for victory over ‘Horns

CARBONDALE – The Roaring Fork boys’ basketball team stormed back in the fourth quarter to beat 3A Western Slope League rival Basalt 71-59 in both teams’ league opener at Roaring Fork High School Tuesday night.

Basalt (0-1 WSL, 0-4 overall) led 50-46 after three quarters, but the Rams (1-0, 3-3) outscored the Longhorns 25-9 in the final frame.

The Rams finished with four players in double figures and outscored the Longhorns 14-4 from the charity stripe.



Nic Lough led Roaring Fork with 18 points, while Jake Boyle tallied 13, including three treys. Aaron Markham and Arnold Hernandez finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Basalt’s Ryan Thompson tallied a game-high 22 points. Travis Schwan and Kyle Kappeli scored 13 and 12, respectively, for the Longhorns.



Basalt hosts Class 4A Glenwood Springs tonight. Roaring Fork is off until after the Christmas break.
