Revamped Bears still have weapons

Rifle has had to re-tool its roster after losing nine seniors from its 2004 Class 4A state playoff qualifying team. But the Bears do have some standouts back from last season’s 9-5-2 (7-3-2 league) team – enough for another serious playoff run.Varsity returnees Stuart Stapleton and Bobby Layman, both seniors, are among the Bears top players. Other key contributors include Nick Condie, Ryan Melody and Eric Simms. Uriel Quezada gives Rifle added depth.The Bears open the 2005 season Saturday at home against non-league opponent Montezuma-Cortez. The game is scheduled for 11 a.m.
