RFHS Cheerleaders earn camp honors

GRAND JUNCTION ” An award-winning cheerleading squad will be performing on the sidelines when Roaring Fork High School’s athletic teams take the field this fall.

The results of the daily, 10-hour training sessions earned the Ram cheerleaders camp-wide awards in leadership, improvement and the traditions awards at a Universal Cheerleaders Association summer camp held at Mesa State College.

The cheerleaders, under the direction of coaches Donna Jensen and Lynne Jammeron, is the largest in squad size at Roaring Fork in recent years.

Nine students, consisting of one senior, five juniors and three freshmen, attended the camp.

Four Ram cheerleaders ” Jessica Jensen, Stacia Coming, Ashley Jammeron and Danika Krajcar ” were selected by the camp’s staff as Universal Cheerleader Association All Star cheerleaders.

All Star cheerleaders, according to the UCA, are selected for their cheerleading skills, athletic and leadership abilities and are among the top ten percent of cheerleaders who attend a UCA summer camp.

All four of Roaring Fork’s all star honorees earned the option of performing with other UCA all star cheerleaders in London, England, over the Christmas holiday break.

The Universal Cheerleaders Association conducts summer camps in all 50 states and is the largest professional cheerleading instruction company in North America.
