Rifle blanks Fruita to win Wood Bat Tournament championship

RIFLE — Triston Quigley pitched a complete-game shutout and scored both runs for the Rifle summer baseball team, helping the Bears earn the tournament championship of the Austin Booth Memorial Wood Bat Tournament on Saturday night with a 2-0 win over Fruita at Deerfield Park.

Quigley snapped the scoreless tie in the fourth inning when he scored on a sacrifice fly from Teig Hauer, then made it 2-0 when he scored on an RBI single from Angel Diaz.

The Bears, who improved to 6-1 during the summer with the victory, are scheduled to host a doubleheader against Delta on Wednesday.
