Rifle football team recaps its championship season

There’s a new football film hitting the silver screen in Rifle this weekend. The Rifle High School football team’s highlights video will be feature-length.

The movie, edited by assistant coach Ryan Mackley, features interviews with players and coaches, as well as scenes from games throughout the year including the Class 3A State Championship game.

The show starts at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rifle Creek Theater. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for students and free for football players.

The team watches a highlight video every year. But it’s usually only a 45-minute video for players and their families, and shows in the auditorium.

“This is the first year we’ve won a state championship, though,” Mackley said. “We thought people from the community might want to see it.”
