Rifle Gap Opener draws big field

Golfers turned out in droves for the 2002 Gap Opener at the Rifle Creek Golf Course last weekend.

Luke Antonelli and Rick Peterson teamed to win the championship flight, gross division with their scores of 65 and 64, respectively, for a total 129.

Joe Elliott and Doug Choate finished second at 135. Michael Somma and Randy Lozier were one stroke back at 136.



In championship flight, net scoring, first place wen to Garry Gilmore and Bob Campiglia.

Second went to Cole Manuppella and Jarred Brown.



The teams of Jeff Hauer-Marc Cardwell and Mike Moser-Ted Miernicki tied for third.

In first flight-gross, Mark Sours and Chris Christensen won with a 147. Jim Vogt and Mike Vogt were second, one stroke back. Mike Sawyer and Ed Weiss finished third.

In first flight-net, Roger Schmitt and Riley McClung tied with Sawyer and Weiss. Jerry Ferguson and Don Bendetti were among a group of four teams tied for second.

They included Jon Burnett-Ken McGechie; ?Darold Winchester-Steve Webb; and Frank Mooney-John Elmer.

In second flight-gross, Al Eizer and Darrel Gorham finished first with Jim Fahrenholt-John Swanson and Jerry Bauer-Randy Van Slyke sharing second.

Jim Denton and Scott Matthews finished next.

In second flight-net, Doug Meyers and Ken Moser won. Two teams finished tied for second. They were Earl O’Neal and Scott Bennett and the team of Jim Denton and Scott Matthews.
