Rifle goes 1-2 at Peachfuzz

GRAND JUNCTION – Rifle beat up on Durango 19-0 in a run-rule shortened Saturday afternoon tilt to salvage a 1-2 record at the Grand Junction-hosted Peachfuzz Tournament.Chelsea Webb went 4-for-4 with a double and six RBIs at Kronkright Softball Complex to pace the Bears’ offensive explosion. Alissa Skinner pitched the shutout for both Rifle’s and her own first win of the season.Rifle (1-3) kicked off the tournament on Friday with a 3-0 loss to Grand Junction. The Bears were held to two hits all game, one of which was a double by Megan McWilliams. Skinner took the loss on the mound. Rifle’s offense was again shut down in game two, as Grand Junction Central topped the Bears 15-0. The Bears connected for three hits, but weren’t able to get anyone across the plate. Central’s 13 hits, compiled with four Bear fielding errors, made for a high-octane Warrior offense. McWilliams pitched the loss.On deck for the Bears is a trip to next weekend’s Berthoud Tournament.
