Rifle golf wins Cobble Creek tourney

Competing at the Cobble Creek Tournament on Tuesday, the Rifle Bears girls golf team topped Grand Junction by 43 shots to win the event, shooting 243 as a team.

Sophomore Masi Smith won the individual portion of the tournament at Cobble Creek, shooting a round of 77, finishing just one shot ahead of teammate Elly Walters, who shot a 78.

Grand Junction’s Gracie Olkowski finished third with a round of 80, while Rifle’s Savannah Seay finished fourth overall with a round of 88.

Montrose’s Nicole Cherry rounded out the top five of the tournament by shooting a 92.

For Rifle, Isabel Feichter shot a round of 91 at Cobble Creek, while Jacey Hauer shot a round of 100 to round of the event for the Bears.

The Bears will return to the course March 27 in the Battlement Mesa tournament, hosted by Grand Valley High School.
