Rifle High boys top Eagle Valley, 47-43

GYPSUM — Rifle High School’s boys basketball team on Tuesday rebounded from its loss Saturday to 4A Western Slope League rival Glenwood Springs, getting a big night from Austin Boone in a 47-43 win against Eagle Valley.

Boone, a Rifle senior, finished 8-for-8 shooting from the field with 21 points and seven rebounds. The Bears improved to 11-8 overall, 8-5 in league play. Jacob Boone added 11 points.

GIRLS: EAGLE VALLEY 49, RIFLE 33

GYPSUM — Elly Walters had 12 points and Jessie Pressler added seven for the Bears (11-8, 7-6 league), who were within 18-17 at the end of the first half. Sam Hinkle added six points for the Bears, who host Battle Mountain on Friday night.
