Rifle, Palisade out-wrestle Glenwood at Demon triangular

Rifle High School wrestling won its matchup with Glenwood Springs Tuesday at the Glenwood triangular, while the Palisade Bulldogs took down both local teams.

Rifle 41, Glenwood 31

Highlights for the Bears included Hunter Bercher, who had an 18-1 technical fall in 6 minutes over the Demons’ Nathan Sandoval at 120 pounds; Bryce Rowley (138) won in a fall over Ray Rosenmerkel in 1:53; Grant Houser (182) over Cameron Small by fall in 1:13; and Kellen Johnson (113) over Jaro Achovarria by fall in 1:39.

Glenwood weight-class winners included Isaac Lepe (126) over James Webb by fall in 2:56; Kodiak Kellogg (145) by fall in 3:50 over Caidyn Wilcox; JoJohn Ritter (160) over Marcus Washington by fall in 0:33; and Sebastian Garcia (220) over Corey Edwards by major decision, 14-6.

Palisade 64, Rifle 18

Rifle match winners included Bryce Rowley (138) over Phallen Salvati by fall in 3:46; Alex Guardado (195) over Usiel Romero by fall in 0:47; and Corey Edwards (220) over James Arias-McGinnett by fall in 3:06.

Bulldogs dispel Demons

Palisade also defeated Glenwood Springs in a match sweep. The Demons had strong performances from Ray Rosenmerkel at 138 pounds, who eventually fell to Phallen Salvati in 3:05, and from Elo Garcia at 152 pounds, who fell to Franklin Barks in 2:46. Jo John Ritter lost his 160-pound match to Zach Barnett by fall in 1:14.
