Rifle takes third at Delta golf invitational

Teeing off in wet, cold, windy weather on Thursday, the Rifle girls golf team still managed to play a decent round, taking third place at the Delta Invitational at Devil’s Thumb Golf Course.

With five Class 5A teams and five 4A teams, Rifle took the highest 4A spot with a score of 278 while Glenwood finished in 10th place with a score of 396.

Ashley Chastain was the top area golfer, talking fifth overall after carding an 87. Her score was the top 4A mark. Kori Kosht finished the day as the next highest Bear, tying for 11th place after shooting a 93. Fellow Bear Kelsey Mallicoat shot a 98 and took 13th place.

Rifle will be back on the links today at the Cedaredge Invitational at Deer Creek Village Golf Course. Glenwood will next play at the Grand Valley Invitational, along with Rifle, on Monday at Battlement Mesa Golf Course.
