Rifle’s Smith wins at Battlement Mesa

Competing in Parachute at the Battlement Mesa Golf Course Monday, Rifle sophomore Masi Smith picked up yet another win on the young season, shooting a round of 78 to finish four strokes ahead of Grand Junction’s Gracie Olkowski, who shot an 82 to finish second.

Rifle won the team portion of the tournament as well, shooting a total of 260, finishing 21 shots ahead of Grand Junction (281), while the Glenwood Demons finished third with a round total of 297.

Palisade (318) and Moffat County (367) rounded out the top five schools at the tournament.

Rifle junior Elly Walters finished third overall behind Smith and Olkowski, shooting a round of 83, while Glenwood’s Lauren Murphy finished fourth with a round of 86.
