Rifle’s Smith wins Ace Golf Championship Tournament

Rifle junior golfer Jacob Smith competed in the Ace Golf Foundation Championship Tournament, Monday, in Montrose, where he went on to win the tournament with a score of 75.

Held at The Bridges Golf Club in Montrose, four high school golfers qualified for the tournament. The Ace Golf Foundation is a small tour for high school golfers that gives them the opportunity to play various golf courses on the Western Slope at a reasonable cost.

Ron Fante of Grand Junction organizes the tournaments for the Ace Golf Foundation.

Glenwood boys lead league play after win over Steamboat

It was a statement game featuring the two best boys basketball teams in the 4A Western Slope League on Saturday afternoon at the Chavez-Spencer Gymnasium in Glenwood Springs. And, just like in the old western shootouts, it was the Glenwood Demons who had spoken the loudest when all the dust had settled with a key 58-44 win over the Steamboat Springs Sailors.
