CARBONDALE, Colorado ” Roaring Fork’s season didn’t get off to a sparkling start on Friday, with visiting Hotchkiss dealing the Rams a 41-0 loss.

“I’ve seen a lot better days,” frustrated Roaring Fork coach Greg Holley said.

The Rams look to reverse the result next week as non-league play continues with a trip to Hayden. The Tigers lost their opener at Coal Ridge, 16-14, Friday night.

LONGMONT, Colorado ” Rifle coach Anthony Alfini said the Bears have a lot to work on after a 35-6 season-opener loss to Longmont’s Silver Creek High School.

After falling behind 21-0 at halftime, the Bears got on the scoreboard on a 72-yard touchdown pass from Logan Powell to Joe Burgess in the third quarter.

Alfini said he was pleased with the effort and how the Bears played better in the second half. Alfini is filling in for first-year head coach Bill Kucera who was injured at a Rifle practice this summer.

Rifle will travel to Western Slope League rival Moffat County next Friday.
