Roaring Fork keeps unbeaten string intact
Roaring Fork keeps rolling on the road with both the boys and girls teams earning victories Tuesday night.Busing to Olathe, the Rams boys and girls basketball teams earned comfortable wins over the host Pirates to up their unbeaten league marks to 8-0 in the Class 3A Western Slope League. The contest was the fourth of six consecutive road games for both Rams teams.Center Nic Lough was effective inside and outside the paint in the boys game. He racked up his game-high 29 points by hitting five two-point field goals, plus five bombs from beyond the three-point line in the 64-52 boys victory.Point guard Aaron Markham finished with 16 points to help the Rams to their 12th consecutive victory.Jake Perkins and Jesus Chinchilla each scored 11 points for Olathe, while Scott Darby tallied 10 points.The Rams, who outscored Olathe in every quarter, improve to 12-3 overall. Olathe drops to 0-7 (2-11).Girls roll over PiratesMegan Zeigel scored 19 points and Laura Wright added 11 in a 64-31 rout over Olathe Tuesday night. The victory increased the Rams’ lead over second-place Hotchkiss to two games in the WSL and increased Roaring Fork’s unbeaten streak to 11 games.Opening with a bang, the Rams (14-1 overall) led 11-3 at the end of the first quarter and had the game wrapped up by intermission with a 15-point lead. A balanced offensive attack featured 10 different Roaring Fork players with at least two points in the game.Pearl Roberts was the only Olathe player in double figures with 18 points. The Pirates drop to 0-8 (3-12).
