Roaring Fork tops Cedaredge

CEDAREDGE, Colorado ” In the final game of the regular season, Roaring Fork’s defense came up big.

Scoring all their points in the second quarter and letting the defense carry them the rest of the way, the Rams finished off the year 5-5 overall and 4-3 in 2A Western Slope League play with a 17-6 win at Cedaredge on Friday.

It all started with a 33-yard field goal by Nate Soucie.

Then came Cameron Ellis’ blocked punt, which teammate Jake Hawkins recovered for a touchdown.

Soren Phibbs rounded out the bountiful quarter with a 5-yard TD run and the Rams had all the points they’d need for a victory.

Phibbs finished with 103 yards on 21 carries, while quarterback Ryan Weimer had 83 yards on 9-of-24 passing.

On defense, Ellis, Dana Holley and Michael Ellis all had interceptions for Roaring Fork. Holley also had 59 yards receiving on three catches on offense.

The loss ended Cedaredge’s season at 4-6 overall and 3-4 in the 2A WSL.
