Rohrbaugh wins individual title at Rifle Creek tournament
Rohrbaugh leads way at Rifle Labor Day tournament
Tristan Rohrbaugh finished first in gross scoring, and Kyle Daniell paced the winning Pro-Am team during the Pro-Am and Stroke Play Labor Day Tournament at Rifle Creek Golf Course this past weekend.
Rohrbaugh, who hails from Carbondale and attends Basalt High School, won the tournament’s gross scoring championship flight. He was followed by Jack Parkinson (second place) and Kirk Blaszyk. Jeb Savage and Kyler Smith finished tied for first in net scoring.
Winning first-flight gross was Ty Caron, with Kirk Cavarra earning first place in net scoring. Todd Smith finished second in gross scoring, and Teig Hauer and Pat Burwell finished tied for second place in net scoring.
Winning other gross-scoring flights in the tournament were Earl Cherry (second flight), Jacob Smith (third flight) and Ed Weiss (fourth flight). Steve beattie won the second-flight net scoring title, with Troy Mannon winning the third-flight net scoring crown and Fred Frei taking first in net scoring for the fourth flight.
Claiming the title in the pro-am event with a score of 184 was Daniell, the head pro at Rifle Creek, along with David Kotz, John Elmer, Brandyn Bair and Delwynn Fletcher. Finishing one stroke back in the pro-am was pro Mary Ochs and her team, which included Jeb Savage, Neil Leibowitz, Taylor Arbaney and Michael Higginbotham.
