Running Demonstake second again
Despite competing without a few of its top runners and going against a handful of Class 5A teams in windy conditions, the 4A Glenwood Springs cross country team still raced its way to a runner-up girls performance and a seventh-place boys finish at the Georgetown Classic on Tuesday.Freshman standout Angie Shepard was sick and unable to compete for the girls, but, as usual, the girls still placed a few runners in the top 10. Katrina Selsor was the highest placing Demon, taking fourth place with a time of 21:46, Melissa Buchanan finished sixth with a 22:02 mark and Sharaya Selsor took seventh in 22:14. Amanda Alberico put up a time of 23:11 to take 19th.Overall, Glenwood’s girls team finished second, 13 points higher than Class 5A Doherty, who won the meet with a score of 35.Demons Ryan Ward and Bryce McDermott were unable to compete, so teammates Kellen Fockler, Justin Davis and Ryan Yost stepped up to lead Glenwood. Fockler took 35th overall with a time of 20:13, Davis placed 41st in 20:27 and Yost finished in 51st with a time of 21:10.
