Scoring error gives Demons meet crown
The Glenwood Springs Demons girls track and field team was pleased with its second-place finish Saturday at the Alamosa Invitational, but first is always better.
And, on Monday evening, head coach Blake Risner found out that his team is better than second place.
Due to a scoring error, it turns out that Glenwood – not Alamosa – was the meet champion.
“I wish I could have announced it to the team at practice today, but I just found out and I can’t wait to tell them tomorrow,” Risner said Monday evening.
After recalculating the scores, Centauri was second and Alamosa dropped from first to third.
“I hope it’s the first of many to come,” Risner said. “The girls have really high expectation for season.”
