Selsor’s 6th leads Glenwood in season’s first XC competition

Glenwood Springs High School running star Katrina Selsor picked up right where she left off last season, taking ninth in the cross country season-opening meet ” the Harrison Invitational ” on Thursday.

The junior clocked a 20:55 on the 5K course at El Pomar Youth Center in Colorado Springs, the site of this year’s Class 4A state meet, earning the highest placement for the Demons.

Melissa Buchanan came in 21st overall with a 22:09 and Sharaya Selsor and Michelle Stripp followed in 36th and 37th place respectively with times of 22:53 and 22:54. The girls finished fourth overall as a team in the tourney, which hosted 12 full teams and runners from 30 teams total.

The Demon boys took 26th overall and were paced by freshman Ryan Buchanan who finished 42nd with a 18:51 mark. Kellen Fockler took 67th with a 19:20 and Ryan Yost ran a 19:58 to place 100th.

Glenwood’s JV team will travel to Delta on Saturday while the varsity will next run in at Steamboat on Sept. 8.
