Setterberg notches top finishes at RFS G.S.
ASPEN – Whitney Setterberg notched a pair of victories, while Dakota Stonehouse and Matt Snyder each reached the podium with third-place finishes to lead the Sunlight Ski Team Sunday at the Roaring Fork Series giant slalom races held at Aspen Highlands.
Setterberg won the J4 (11-12 years old) girls’ class with a single-run time of 31.11 seconds in the first race and 32.22 in the second race. Teammate Sydney Schacter crashed in the first race, but rebounded for fourth in the second race. She finishing just .01 out of third place with a time of 32.80.
Stonehouse placed third in the first race in the J4 boys’ class and fourth in the second race. Snyder nipped Stonehouse by three one-hundredths of a second for third place as Sunlight racers took five of the top 10 places. Conner Riley was fifth, Dillon Felky was seventh and Tucker Riley was 10th. Aspen Valley Ski Club racers Sam Coffey and Charlie Lasser took first and second, respectively, in both races.
Other Sunlight Ski Team racers to post top-10 finishes include: Nick Fetchiok with a fourth and ninth in the J5 (10 and under); Kevin Hartmann, who races in the Sunlight Buddy Werner program, with a fifth and seventh in the J5; and Josh Currier, another Buddy Werner racer, posted a 10th-place finish in the J3 (13-14) boys’ class.
The J4 Sunlight Ski Team racers compete Sunday in Breckenridge.
