Seven earn all-state hoop honors
Seven area prep athletes, five girls and two boys, were recently selected to the 2002-03 all-state basketball team by Denver area newspapers.
Autumn Caughern, a junior at Basalt High, was named to the girls Class 3A first team by the Rocky Mountain News and Denver Post.
Jenni Hirneisen, a senior at Grand Valley High School in Parachute, was tabbed as a second team selection by the Rocky Mountain News and honorable mention from the Denver Post for Class 2A girls.
Basalt’s Mariah Mulcahy got the nod from the Denver Post as a second team, Class 3A all-state choice and honorable mention by the Rocky Mountain News.
Roaring Fork High’s Tarn Udall was voted to the News’ 3A girls all-state second team and the Post’s honorable mention list.
Lauren Redfern, a junior at Basalt, received honorable mention from both newspapers as did Rifle High School senior Ryan Shideler among Class 4A boys.
Timon Fish of Glenwood Springs earned honorable mention from the Rocky Mountain News for Class 4A boys.
