Silt Hey Day 5K, Ring the Bell 5K taking registrations

The fourth-annual Silt Hey Day Hobble 5K, a benefit run for the Silt Historical Society, will take place at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4.

All runners are welcome, as are hobblers. All participants will begin at the same time. Results will be posted and prizes will be distributed as soon as possible after all participants have crossed the finish line. The course will run primarily through Silt, and will start and finish at Veterans Park.

Preregistration is $20. Checks should be made out to the Silt Historical Society and sent to: Kathy Strong, P.O. Box 654, Silt, CO 81652. Race-day registration will be $25 from 7 to 7:45 a.m.

A a little further down the proverbial running road will be the first running of the Ring the Bell at the Bridge 5K for suicide awareness will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 in Glenwood Springs.



Proceeds will benefit the Aspen Hope Center and Foundation. The race will begin at the Red School House on Canyon Creek Road. A bell will be located at the halfway point of the race, where participants can ring a bell in memory for those individuals lost by suicide.

Shuttles to the race will leave at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $25 until Sept. 20 and will be $30 on race day.
