Skinner hurls perfect game against Basalt
Alissa Skinner is Rifle’s No. 1 pitcher for a reason. Basalt found that out right away.In the Bears’ final tune-up before heading back into tournament play this weekend, Skinner threw a 10-0 perfect game with nine strikeouts against the Longhorns Tuesday at Deerfield Park.The game was halted after five innings due to the 10-run-ahead mercy rule.Rifle, who upped its overall record to 2-3 on the win, broke a 0-0 tie in the third inning by scoring four runs, which included a two-run home run by Megan McWilliams.The Bears scored three times in the fourth and fifth innings to add to their lead. Rifle will head to the Berthoud Tournament on Friday for more games this weekend.
