Special Olympics takes place this weekend
About 200 Special Olympics athletes are expected for the 2017 Western & Southeast Regional Winter Games taking place Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10 and 11, in locations around Glenwood Springs. Competitions include alpine skiing and snowboarding at Sunlight Mountain Resort and snowshoeing and cross country skiing at Argonaut Farm, down the road from Sunlight at 7101 County Road 117. From 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, all are invited to a dance at Glenwood Springs Middle School, 120 Soccer Field Road.
In addition to the athletes, more than 75 volunteers and 50 families are expected.
