Todays girls Rifle-Montrose girls softball game at Deerfield Park has been changed to Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. due to poor field conditions.

A garage sale benefiting the Glenwood Grizzlies Midget hockey team takes place at 401 27th Street at 10 a.m. Saturday. Community members wishing to donate household items, furniture and clothing can make arraignments with team members to pickup items Thursday and Friday evening. Donated items can also be dropped off at the on-site from 5-7 p.m. Friday.Information: 379-1085.

The Art of Defense TKD studio in New Castle is accepting registrations for students age 6 and up for their extended class schedule. Classes are held on Monday and Wednesdays at 4-5:15 p.m., 5:30-7 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. Additional sessions are held Tuesday and Thursday evening from 5:30-7 p.m. and 7-8 p.m.Information: 984-2109.

Five area youths took first place in their respective divisions in a Denver Broncos NFL/Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick competition, sponsored by the Carbondale Recreation Department.Division winners were Nicholas Calabro, Clay Gross, Thomas Cerise, Gregory Orosz and Jordan Clingan. All five advance to the sectional competition in Grand Junction on Oct. 16.

The 2005 Lakota golf course, 36-hole, mens club championship tournament will be held Oct. 1-2. The tournament includes club members from both the mens Wednesday and Thursday night mens leagues.Tee time is 2 p.m. both days.Club members can register by calling the Pro Shop at 984-9700.

The Glenwood Canyon Shuffle, a half-marathon (13.1-mile) run and relay race and 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) run/walk, will take place on the bike path in Glenwood Canyon, Saturday. Oct. 8. The race benefits Literacy Outreach, a nonprofit organization that teaches literacy skills to adults.The half-marathon begins at 9 a.m. Oct. 8, and the 5K starts at 10. Buses will take participants from the finish line at the No Name exit of Glenwood Canyon to the race starting points. Relay teams of up to five people are welcome to participate in the half-marathon.Cost is $20 per person in the half-marathon, and $50 per team. The 5K costs $15 per person. A late fee of $5 per person and $25 per team applies to entries received after Oct. 4. A long-sleeved T-shirt is included with the entry fee.
