Matthew Ehlers of Glenwood Springs took first place in the open men’s middleweight bodybuilding division at the NPC Mile High Natural Bodybuilding, Figure and Bikini Championships last weekend. The event was held at Englewood High School and was a national qualifier.
The Strawberry Shortcut, a staple of Strawberry Days weekend for more than 30 years, will return to the streets of Glenwood Springs on June 21.
Runners can participate in either a 10-kilometer race, a 5K or a one-mile fun run. The 5K and 10K cost $20 to enter and the fun run is $18. Run both the 5K and 10K and pay $25. A family entry fetches $50.

The Glenwood Springs Community Center pool will host an introductory synchronized swimming clinic on June 20.
Children 8 to 18 years old are open to participate and will get a feel for what synchronized swimming is all about.
Becky Meltin, a 20-year coach and national judge of synchronized swimming, will lead the clinic, which costs $20 for 8- to 11-year-olds and $40 for 12- to 18-year-olds. The session for the younger kids runs from 9 to 10 a.m., while the older kids go from 10 a.m. to noon.
