Sports briefs: Demon Invitational track and field meet runs Saturday

The 40th annual Demon Invitational track and field meet takes place Saturday, May 15 at Stubler Memorial Field.

Participating area high schools include Glenwood Springs, Coal Ridge, Roaring Fork, Basalt, Rifle and Aspen.

Events begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the exception of the pole vault, which takes place at 1 p.m. Friday at Coal Ridge High School.



Spectators are welcome to attend, but must purchase tickets online at glenwoodspringshighschool.ticketspice.com/2021-demon-invitational-track–field

In addition, there will be a silent auction GSHS track team fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the GSHS cafeteria.



YouthZone charity golf tournament

YouthZone presents its charity scramble-format golf tournament, starting at 1:30 p.m. June 4 at Lakota Links Golf Course in New Castle.

The event includes prizes for men’s and ladies longest drive and closest to the pin, plus a hole-in-one contest for the chance to win a 2021 Honda.

Proceeds are to benefit YouthZone’s prevention, intervention, restorative justice, counseling and parenting programs.

Golf tourney for Carbondale Arts

Carbondale Arts presents its fundraiser Golden Putter Golf Tournament for the Arts on Saturday, June 19, at River Valley Ranch.

The tournament runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features an 18-hole, scramble format. There will also be arts-themed holes.

Proceeds are to benefit the Rosybelle mobile maker bus and arts education programs. Register at carbondalearts.com.
