Spring all-state teams announced across Garfield County

With the conclusion of the spring sports season, schools across Garfield County are celebrating numerous athletes who have received all-state honors in various sports categories.

Baseball:

In baseball, 3A standout Ben Simons from Coal Ridge earned a spot on the first team, while teammate Alexis Serna captured second-team honors. Their fellow Titans — Cole Fenton, Logan Harlow, George Roberts and Jakson Slade — were recognized with honorable mentions. Rifle’s Logan Gross was named to the 4A second team, and Jackson Aguirre of Glenwood Springs received an honorable mention. In 2A baseball, Andrew Palcer of Grand Valley was also honored.



Girls soccer:

Girls soccer saw strong performances, with Kaylae Medina, Emma Speakman and Chloe Williams of Grand Valley all securing spots in 2A. In 3A, Maddie Anderson of Roaring Fork, Dariana Ortega-Torres of Rifle and Jacey Read of Basalt made the second team. Honorable mentions included Riley Cheney and Andrea Jaquez of Coal Ridge.



Boys swimming:

Boys swimming was dominated by Glenwood Springs, with Breck Boyd, William Jones, Brian Molloy, and Luke Thornton all making the first team, specifically recognized for their prowess in the 200 Free Relay among other events.

Girls lacrosse:

In girls lacrosse, Paige Pulliam of Roaring Fork earned second-team accolades for her defensive skills while teammates Josie McKinley-Kitchell and Jordyn Miller received honorable mentions.

Track and field:

Track and field highlighted several athletes with Lilly Weisbrod of Rifle earning first-team honors in the high jump after her first place finish at the state championships. Coal Ridge’s track team boasted second-team recognitions for Effie Fletcher, Brilee Jensen, Rilyn Krueger, Lexi Thurmon and Kina Will, who showed remarkable versatility. Honorable mentions went to Jacey Read and Jordan Terrell of Coal Ridge and others.

For boys track and field, Troy Mataia of Rifle made the second team for his achievements in both the discus and shot put. Honorable mentions included Jade Cunningham of Rifle and Omar Vergara of Coal Ridge, recognized for their respective performances in the high jump and the 400-meter dash.
