Springers meet on tap today

Runners of all levels, here’s your chance to get in a workout while helping local kids reach their dreams in track and field.This afternoon’s Glenwood Springers youth track club’s all-comers meet will accept registrations up through the first event, at 4:30 p.m. on the track at Glenwood Springs High School.Athletes from ages 4 to 80 are encouraged to participate, with proceeds going to help the Springers offset travel, uniform and training costs. Field events on the schedule are the long jump and shot put. Running events include a 50-meter dash for runners and 10 and younger, plus 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1,600 runs.An all-ages 100-meter hurdles race and a 4×100 and distance medley relay race also will take place.All events are broken down into age and gender divisions.The entry fee is $5 for participants 18 and younger, $10 for those over 18, and $50 for relay and corporate teams. The top three placers in each event will win ribbons.Girls will run first, followed by the boys in all running events, provided enough competitors enter.
