The Glenwood Springs Youth Hockey Association’s Squirt B hockey team showed a strong effort in a meeting with Steamboat Springs last Sunday.

Despite eventually dropping both games, 9-7 and 3-0, goals were scored in the morning by Nico deVita (unassisted) and Gavin Olson (assisted by Erich Albrecht).

Lucca Trapani stopped 18 of 27 shots on goal against the league-leading squad.

The afternoon game saw Josh Cook put up a strong showing in the net, saving 28 of 31 shots on goal. Though scoreless in the second matchup, the Grizzlies showed self control with zero penalties in either game, and several close chances for goals in their offensive zone.

The Grizzlies have a doubleheader today. They’ll be on the ice at 8:45 a.m. with Vail/Eagle, followed by a game with Aspen at 1:30 p.m.

Both games will be played at the Glenwood Springs Community Center ice rink.
