Sutherland out for season

Amber Sutherland will have to wait one more year to play her senior season on the University of Colorado volleyball team.The Glenwood Springs High School graduate and Preseason All-Big 12 Team selection is being forced to redshirt due to an ongoing shoulder injury. Sutherland, who was fourth in the Big 12 in kills last year with a 4.18 kills per game average, will have one year of eligibility left by redshirting this season.The Buffaloes will be taking a hit on the court without the 5-foot-10 outside hitter as she ranks 15th on the all-time kills list at CU with 908 and 24th on the school’s list of digs with 618.Sutherland was named the 2003 Rocky Mountain News and Denver Post Colorado Class 4A Player of the Year after Glenwood went 29-1 her senior year and made it to the state semifinals.
