Thompson leads Longhorns to 64-47 victory

BASALT – Ryan Thompson scored 23 points and Kyle Kappeli added 18 in Basalt’s 64-47 Class 3A Western Slope League win over Eagle Valley here Tuesday night.

Kappeli had eight points and Thompson chipped in five in a 19-7 second quarter where the Longhorns (3-3 WSL, 3-7 overall) took the lead for good after trailing the Devils (2-4, 2-7) by four at the end of the first period.

Thompson scored eight of his game-high 23 points in the third quarter which raised Basalt’s lead to 49-33. Cody Gerard had 18 points to lead Eagle Valley.



Basalt has a league game at Hotchkiss on Friday, then concludes this weekend’s play with a nonleague contest at Summit.
