Titans fall in pair of duals
CEDAREDGE — Coal Ridge High School’s wrestling team dropped a pair of dual meets on Thursday night, falling 60-6 to Hotchkiss before losing to the host Bruins, 58-24.
Leading the way for the young Titans was 170-pounder Logan Stephens, who won matches in both of Coal Ridge’s matchups against Hotchkiss and Cedaredge. Stephens beat Hotchkiss’ Parker Katzdorn 9-3, then earned a pin of Cedaredge’s Tory Wilson in 1 minute, 22 seconds.
The Titans gave up 24 points to forfeits in their loss to the Bruins. Each one of Coal Ridge’s wins was by pin, though.
Lane Nelson pinned Wyatt Hamilson in 4:38 at 126 pounds, Justin Goodsell (132) pinned Dakota Nequette in 3:38, Jacx Powers pinned Colton Hoerr in 5:46 at 145, and Stephens added his win. Coal Ridge also wrestled in a dual match against Gunnison. None of those results were available.
The Titans wrestle again on Saturday at the Rangely Invitational tournament.
