Area Sports BriefsYouth football benefit setA dinner and silent auction with a number of former Denver Broncos scheduled to attend will be from 6-9 p.m. at the Hotel Colorado on Wednesday, Aug. 4.The event is a fund-raiser for the Three Rivers Youth Football Association, which provides scholarships and aid for area youth and high school football programs.Tickets are $30 per-person.Information: Scott Zerfoss, 945-0318; Dave Alderson, 309-0911.Rare Breed football camp returns Registrations are now being accepted for the Rare Breed Football Camp, scheduled to take place Aug. 5-7 at Glenwood Springs High School.The camp is open to football players entering third through eighth grade.Instructors scheduled to be on site include former Denver Broncos and NFL players Rick Upchurch, Vance Johnson, Tyrone Braxton, Dwight Hicks, Mark Jackson and Kenny Woodard.Cost is $100 for seventh-and eighth-graders. The camp is free to all pre-registered Three Rivers youth football players.Information: Scott Zerfoss, 945-0318; Dave Alderson, 309-0911.Golf tournaments set for Rifle CreekRegistrations for the Jack Smith Benifit Scholarship and 2004 Senior tournaments in August to be held at the Rifle Creek golf course are being accepted.The Jack Smith tournament, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 7, is a two-person best-ball event. Cost is $70 per team. Lunch will be provided following play.The 2004 Seniors Colorado Golf Association-sanctioned tournament will be held Aug. 21-22. Entry Fee is $80 which includes breatfast prior to Sunday’s final round.Information: 625-1093.Girls softball camps coming to RifleRIFLE – Two instructional camps – one for 2nd through 8th grades and one for 9th through 12th grade girls – will be Aug. 9-12 at Deerfield Park.Camp sessions for younger players will be for 5-6 p.m. daily. Cost is $25 per person. The high school camp runs from 6-8 p.m. Cost $50.Information: Cindy Skinner, 625-7777.MLS Camp coming to New CastleNEW CASTLE – Major League Soccer Camps will hold sessions Aug. 9-13 at Kathryn Senor Elementary School. The camp is open to ages 5-18 and has divisions in munchkins, nippers, intermediate and advanced.The cost is $61-$94 and all campers receive a ball, T-shirt, camp evaluation, MLS gift and free companion ticket to an MLS game.
