Area Sports BriefsJunior golf camp to be held in GypsumGYPSUM – The Cotton Ranch Golf Club will conduct instructional camps for junior golfers, ages 5-15, twice this summer.Instruction will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 20-Aug. 12 at the golf course.The 5- 6-year-old camp is from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Sessions for 7- 11-year-olds is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Instruction for 12- 15-year-olds is from 1-2:30 p.m.Cost is $65 for 5- and 6-year-olds. Fees for ages 7-15 are $95.Information and registration: 524-6200.Mt. Sopris Runoff on tap The 25th annual Mt. Sopris Runoff is set for Saturday, July 24.The 16.5-mile course starts at 7-Eleven in Basalt and finishes at Sopris Park in Carbondale. The route climbs roughly 1,500 feet on West Sopris Creek Road, then descends 1,800 feet on Prince Creek Road into Carbondale. The surface is part pavement and part dirt road, with aid stations every four miles.The race starts at 8 a.m., and a shuttle back to Basalt leaves Carbondale at 11:15 a.m. The entry fee is $22 in advance or $24 on race day and includes a T-shirt. Registration is available at Ajax Bike and Sport in Basalt or Carbondale, Summit Canyon Mountaineering in Glenwood Springs and Ute Mountaineer in Aspen.Information: Bruce Gabow, 927-4135.Storm King Open slated for July 24The Glenwood Springs Ladies Golf Club will hold the 2004 Storm King Open on July 24 at the Glenwood Springs Golf Club.The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and is a two-woman best-ball format.Information or registration: Pro Shop, 945-7086.Sign-ups open for Three Rivers FootballRegistrations are still being accepted for Three Rivers Youth football. The league starts in the fall and is open to players entering third through sixth grades. For registration in the Glenwood Springs area, call Scott Zerfoss at 945-0318.
