Turkey Trot 5K runs take place in Glenwood Springs, Rifle

The third-annual Rifle Turkey Trot 5K, a benefit fundraiser for the Rifle High School track and field team, will take place on Thursday at Deerfield Park in Rifle.

The event will take place regardless of the weather. Registration and race-day breakfast begins at 8 a.m., with the race beginning at 9 a.m. A pumpkin pie will be given to the male and female race winners as well as the runner with the most creative costume.

Cost is $25 per individual and $70 per family. Proceeds from the race will go toward helping the Rifle High track and field team participate in a track meet on the Front Range this coming spring.

Glenwood Turkey Trot 5K takes place on Nov. 27

The annual Glenwood Springs Turkey Trot 5K race will take place at the Glenwood Springs Community Center at 10 a.m. Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 27.

Preregistration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the community center on race day. Registration is $15 on race day, and preregistration is $10 from any GSHS girls or boys swim team member or cross country member or any Team Sopris swimmer.

Preregistration is also available at Defiance Strength and Conditioning and Summit Canyon Mountaineering in Glenwood Springs, or at Independence Run and Hike in Carbondale.
