The Bear Aware Run kicks off at 8 a.m. from Arbaney Park and winds up to Lake Christine. The day also features a 1K family walk also starting at Arbaney Park. Children will also have the opportunity to shake paws with Smokey the Bear.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. on Sunday or call the Basalt Recreation Department at 927-8214.

The Burning Mountain 5K starts at the New Castle Family Fitness Center. The cost is $15 per person or $40 per family and all proceeds will benefit the New Castle Parks Restoration Committee. Call 984-3200 for registration information.
