Two Rifle golfers in top 10 at Moffat County Invite

Rifle High School golfers Ashley Chastain and Trisha Wailes both finished among the top 10 golfers individually Monday at the Moffat County Invitational at the Yampa Valley Golf Club in Craig.Chastain, who finished fourth at the Rifle Invite last week, shot a 91 for a fifth-place tie with Julie Flores, of Grand Junction. Wailes took 10th place after shooting a 95.Melissa Martin, of team champion Grand Junction Central, won the individual champion medal by carding a 72, a stroke up on runner-up Whitney Rahm, from Fruita Monument.Carrie Kreimier and Kori Kosht, Rifle’s Nos. 3 and 4 players, each shot rounds of 102. Overall, the Bears shot a combined round of 286 and took fifth in the eight-team tournament.Rifle and Glenwood Springs are scheduled to compete at the Montrose Invitational Thursday at the Black Canyon Golf Course, the site of next month’s Western regionals. On Friday, both area teams conclude the regular season at the Aspen Tournament.
