Weather postpones area events

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. A storm that rolled in Friday night and carried on throughout the day on Saturday postponed many of the sporting events slated for the day.In prep sports, the Glenwood Springs baseball team’s doubleheader with Summit was postponed. A makeup date has yet to be set. The Glenwood and Roaring Fork girls tennis teams were scheduled to host Steamboat, but the courts were too wet to play on. A makeup date for the matches also has not yet been set.The Roaring Fork baseball team, playing a doubleheader against Olathe that was originally scheduled to be in Carbondale, but moved to Olathe, lost the first game to the Pirates on Saturday. With the teams fighting delays all day, the second game was set back and a final score was unavailable at press time. Spokes on the Snow, a mountain biking race at Sunlight Mountain Resort, was canceled because of adverse weather, which made the snow too soft to ride on. The event will not be rescheduled because not enough days remain in the winter season.
