Weather wipes out area events

Winter returned with a vengeance to the Roaring Fork Valley Saturday, as snow snuffed out a number of prep sporting events.

The Glenwood Springs girls tennis team’s home duals against Cedaredge and Delta were wiped out, and the Roaring Fork squad saw its contest against Delta buried under the snow as well.

In girls soccer action, Glenwood’s Class 4A Western Slope League game against Battle Mountain was called off, as was the 3A WSL rivalry contest between Basalt and Roaring Fork in Carbondale.

The Rifle baseball team also had a pair of games postponed, with a doubleheader at Battle Mountain being called off.
