Willey Coyote 5K fund-raiser run scheduled for July 20 in West Glenwood
The Willey Coyote 5K, a fund-raiser event to help aid the payment of medical bills for longtime resident Bob Willey, will take place July 20 in Glenwood Springs.
The race will begin at 9 a.m., with race-day registration starting one hour beforehand. It will begin and end at Glenwood Springs Middle School, with the route heading toward the Glenwood Springs fish hatchery on Mitchell Creek Road in West Glenwood Springs.
Bob Willey is a longtime Glenwood Springs resident who has run in 35 of the 37 annual Strawberry Shortcuts. Earlier this year, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and, following that diagnosis, suffered a severe stroke. Proceeds from the race will assist in Willey’s medical treatment.
Participants are also encouraged to wear costumes, as Willey also worked with performing-arts groups in the area.
Cost is $20 and $25 on race day. Preregistration can be done at http://www.active.com, at the Sunlight Ski and Bike Shop on Ninth Street in Glenwood Springs, or at Independence Run and Hike in Carbondale.
