Worline top runner in New Castle’s Hogback Hustle 5K

Former Glenwood Springs High School track and cross country athlete Emily Worline outpaced the 54-runner field for the Hogback Hustle 5K Saturday in New Castle.

Coming off her sophomore year at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Worline was neck-and-neck with top male finisher Ethan Poland through the steady uphill portion of the race along east Castle Valley Boulevard before making a break on the downhill side.

Worline (also the top female 20-29 age group finisher) crossed the finish line at Burning Mountain Park with a time of 21 minutes, 56.1 seconds. Poland (the male 15-19 age group winner) finished second overall in 22:47.3.



Rounding out the top 10 were (*denotes female finisher): 3. Cory House (23:11.5); 4. Graham Riddle (23:24.3); 5. *Krista Halevy (24:54.6); 6. Brad Palmer (24:59.3); 7. John Stroud (25:06.4); 8. Johnny Utah (25:21.9); 9. Terry Secor (25:41.1); 10. Keith Whittington (25:52.2).

The event raised $1,500 towards New Castle Recreation Department and Youth Scholarship programs
