WSL still getting respect in state polls

Class 3A Western Slope football teams continue to get plenty of respect in the state’s two major polls.In the Denver Post/9News poll, Western Slope squads hold three of the top five spots in 3A, and four teams are ranked in the top 10. Defending state champ Palisade edged Moffat County 37-36 with a long touchdown pass and two-point conversion to stay unbeaten on Saturday. Both teams remain in the top five, however, with Palisade (7-0) at No. 1 and Moffat County (6-1) fourth. Rifle (5-2) sits fifth in the latest Post poll and Glenwood Springs (4-3) moved up a spot to ninth.In the RockyPreps poll, Glenwood has yet to break into the top 10 and Rifle is ranked seventh. Palisade and Moffat are ranked first and fourth.In 2A football, after back-to-back losses to league foe Gunnison and Class 3A Rifle, Roaring Fork (5-2) has dropped out of the Post poll and is 10th in the RockyPreps poll.Roaring Fork does have the only area squad ranked in the RockyPreps volleyball poll. The Rams maintained their No. 9 ranking in Class 3A. Roaring Fork has clinched the Western Slope League title and is on a 10-game winning streak.Basalt has a pair of teams ranked by RockyPreps in the No. 2 boys soccer team and No. 4 girls cross country squad.Basalt has a pair of teams ranked by RockyPreps in the No. 2 boys soccer team and No. 4 girls cross country squad.
