X Games rundown: transportation and viewing

For the next four days, the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority will be shuttling tens of thousands of spectators throughout the valley to X Games events and concerts. The following is a breakdown of what weekend revelers need to know concerning transportation and venues offerings.

How to get there

Between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. each day, free RFTA buses will run every six to 10 minutes between Aspen, Buttermilk Mountain, the Brush Creek Intercept Lot and Snowmass Village. RFTA information technology director Phil Schultz encouraged drivers to park at the Intercept Lot, which is on the north side of Highway 82 and Brush Creek Road.

Shuttles also are running from Aspen Highlands to Buttermilk from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today through Sunday. There will be no direct transportation to and from Buttermilk to Highlands after 4:30 p.m.

Drivers also have the option to drop off and pick up attendees at the base of Buttermilk Mountain. No parking or waiting is allowed.

Venue information

The Buttermilk spectator area is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, though X Games will extend hours if competition runs late. The venue will feature four festival villages: Galleria, Gaming Shack, Playground and Sound Factory. The villages will include entertainment, interactive games, food, live music, the Major League Gaming X Games Invitational, athlete autograph signings and giveaways.
